Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that gradually straightens crooked, crowded, or misaligned teeth. Unlike traditional metal braces that use brackets and wires, Invisalign uses custom mouthpieces made from SmartTrack®.
SmartTrack is an FDA-approved thermoplastic that’s free of metal, gluten, and latex, making it safe for pregnant women and those with allergies.
At Century Park Dental Care, the team uses Invisalign to correct various alignment problems, including:
You might also benefit from Invisalign if your teeth are crowded.
Invisalign treatment begins with a consultation at Century Park Dental Care. During your appointment, the team reviews your dental health history and conducts an oral exam to assess the position and alignment of your teeth. They also take dental X-rays.
The team then uses the CEREC Primescan intraoral scanner to take digital impressions of your mouth. They upload your scans to a computer-aided design (CAD) program and develop a custom treatment plan that maps out the specific movements of your teeth and jaw.
After finalizing an orthodontic plan, the team sends your scans to a dental lab that manufactures your first set of custom oral aligners.
During Invisalign treatment, you change into a new pair of aligners every two weeks. Each pair of aligners applies slight pressure to your teeth, gradually moving them into the proper position.
To ensure a positive outcome and long-lasting results, you should wear your aligners 20-22 hours each day. Only take them out when eating or brushing your teeth.
Invisalign treatment typically provides stunning results in 6-12 months, but it can take up to 18 months or longer. Throughout treatment, attend each of your follow-up appointments and follow the team’s advice closely.
If you damage or lose your aligners, contact Century Park Dental Care right away.
Taking care of your Invisalign aligners is easy. The team at Century Park Dental Care recommends rinsing them off with cool tap water 2-3 times a day and brushing them with a soft-bristle toothbrush before going to bed.
For deeper cleanings, ask your dentist about the Invisalign cleaning system.
